Research Topics
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Leaning
Adaptive behavior, computing and evolutionary robotics, machine learning and complex systems, classification and prediction; mining of semantic patterns, data mining and machine learning applied to different application domains.
Big Data
Complex data modeling, complex data integration and interoperability, data management for new database technologies (NoSQL, NewSQL, in-memory, Data lakes, blockchain, etc.)
Data Engineering
Text mining, text segmentation, information extraction, topic modeling and discovery, ranking, learning to rank, etc.
Knowledge Management
Semantic enrichment; knowledge graphs and embeddings; semantic annotation; mining of semantic patterns; semantic consistency.
Our Current Projects
Through a research partnership between the MPSC and UFSC, the Céos project aims to investigate and develop data science techniques and methodologies that can assist in mitigating or solving important specific social problems where the MPSC operates.
PROCORES
The objective is to propose mathematical, statistical, agent and machine learning models that consider: multiple complex aspects of social contagion processes and parameterization through data sources (e.g., online social networks, mobility, collaborations). Such models must: enable classes of individuals and relationships; model co-occurrence, causality and links between contagion processes; and represent multi-relationships.
brModelo is a project aiming at being a free tool to suport teaching relational database design.
